La Aurora Launches New Cameroon Cigar

La Aurora has launched a new, Cameroon-wrapped cigar that pays homage to the past. Called La Aurora 1903 Cameroon, it’s the third installment in the company’s Time Capsule series, a collection of brands that celebrates specific years and tobacco wrappers significant to La Aurora’s history.

If the name 1903 Cameroon sounds familiar, you may be thinking of the La Aurora Cameroon, an entirely different brand that La Aurora makes for catalogs.

1903 Cameroon is draped in a Cameroon wrapper and contains an Ecuadoran Sumatra binder with filler from the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua. The cigar is shipping now in the United States in four sizes: Robusto, measuring 5 inches by 50 ring gauge; Toro, 5 3/4 by 54; Churchill, 7 by 47; and Gran Toro, at 6 by 58. 1903 Cameroon comes in 20-count boxes and is priced from $5.75 to $6.25.

The idea behind 1903 Cameroon, according to the company, is to honor the year that La Aurora first started blending cigars with Cameroon wrapper. The Time Capsule series also boasts the 1962 Corojo and the 1987 Connecticut.

1903 Cameroon is distributed by Miami Cigar & Co. and is manufactured at the La Aurora S.A. factory in the Dominican Republic.
